The All India MCA Common Entrance Test (AIMCET) is the entrance examination generally conducted by IIT’s for admission to Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Program offered by IIT’s and many leading Universities and Colleges.

The All India MCA Common Entrance Test (AIMCET) is a National Level Test being conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. This test shall be for those institutions that are presently holding their own entrance test and admitting all their students or a certain percentage of them on all India basis. Students admitted on All India basis in the State level institutions shall be admitted only through the AIMCET. However, all the States shall continue to hold their own common entrance tests for admission to MCA programmes in institutions within their States as before. The objective of conducting the AIMCET on all India basis is to identify meritorious and motivated candidates through a single common entrance test for admission to Master of Computer Applications programmes being run by various institutions in the country. The admission is to be granted by the individual institutes as per policy applicable to them and the score of AIMCET.

1. Eligibility Criteria

Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at the (10+2) school level or at the Bachelor’s level are eligible. Those candidates who are appearing at the Bachelor’s degree examination in 2004 and fulfil the aforementioned criteria are also eligible but they will have to furnish the proof of having passed the Bachelor’s degree examination (provisional certificate will also be acceptable) at the time of admission to the respective institutes. Indian Nationals are only eligible to apply.

Test is scheduled to be held on June of the academic year

The test is proposed to be held at the following cities. Delhi University MCA Entrance Test 2008

Eligibility:For admission to the MCA programme of Delhi University candidates need to pass the Bachelor’s Degree/Masters degree with at least 60% (55% for reserved category students) marks in aggregate. It is also necessary for them to have one paper in Mathematics and another in Computer Science/Statistics/Operational research/Mathematics.

Obtaining the Application form for Delhi University MCA Entrance Exam: For obtaining the bulletin and application form for admission to the MCA course of the University of Delhi by post, a Bank Draft of Rs. 500/- (Rs.250/- for SC/ST and OBC category) drawn in favor of the Registrar University of Delhi and payable at New Delhi along with a self-addressed stamped (worth Rs-30/-) envelope (Size 10″ X 7″) should be sent to Mrs. Raj Rani Kedla, Office-Incharge, Room No.113, Department of Computer Science, New Academic Block, University of Delhi, Delhi-110 007.

NIMCET 2008

Exam Pattern: NIMCET 2008 will be of two hours duration having 120 multiple-choice questions. While correctly answered questions will carry four marks, the wrong answers will invite one negative mark.

Test Centers of NIMCET 2008: NIMCET 2008 will be held at NIT Agartala, MNIT Allahabad, MANIT Bhopal, NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, NIT Hamirpur, NIT Jaipur, NIT Jalandhar, NIT Jamshedpur, NIT Kurukshetra, VNIT Nagpur, NIT Patna, NIT Raipur, NIT Rourkela, NIT Silchar, NIT Srinagar, NIT Surat, NIT Surathkal, NIT Tiruchirapalli and NIT Warangal.

General Eligibility for NIMCET 2008: For admission to the MCA programs of the NITs, candidates should be Indian Nationals having minimum 60% (55% marks or 6.10/10 CGPA for SC/ST candidates) aggregate marks (6.5/10 CGPA) at the 12th level and at the Bachelor’s Degree of Full Time of minimum 3 years duration from a recognized University with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Mathematics as one of the subjects in any one semester/year at both 12th level and graduation level.

The candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear for NIMCET-2008, but they need to furnish the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET-08 preferably at the time of Counseling/Admission but not later than 31st July, 2008.

Apart from these general eligibility criteria, candidates may have to fulfill some particular criteria of the participating NITs.

BIT Mesra MCA Entrance Test 2008

Test Centres: The BIT Mesra MCA Entrance Exam would be held at Allahabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Noida and Ranchi.Obtaining the Application Form: The information brochure and application material for the BIT Mesra MCA Entrance test can be obtained from all the BIT Centres in person from 19th March to 28th April 2008 on payment of Rs. 1200/- and by post on payment of Rs. 1300/-. All payments need to be made by crossed DD in favor of Birla Institute of Technology, payable at Ranchi.
